Blockchain (P2E) game Axie Infinity (AXS) has completely removed token rewards from its classic game mode to lure its users into a new game mode called Axie Infinity Origin.

The Axie Infinity team announced that, starting Friday, there will be no more Smooth Love Potions (SLP) to be minted in their Classic mode. According to the team, the SLP rewards will be carried over to the new game mode. However, the minting will not be available for 30 days as the team conducts a monitoring phase to look for bugs, abuse, and exploits.

Apart from this, the team explained that the transition from the classic game mode to the new game mode will help “balance the SLP economy”. In addition to removing the classic bonuses, the team will also enable the use of SLP to create various in-game boosts such as runes and magic in the new mode to add benefit to the SLP.

Back in February, the Axie Infinity team removed the adventure mini-game SLP bonus and the daily quest bonus in Classic mode in an earlier attempt to balance the economy for the SLP token. Despite the team’s efforts to make economic adjustments, the coin is still down 98.7% from its all-time high of $0.39 in July 2021.

In 2021, Non-Foldable Tokens (NFT) popularized the P2E model and accounted for nearly two-thirds of all blockchain NFT transactions. Over the past year, the project has shown $3.5 billion worth of NFT exchanges, according to token information website NonFungible.

Although the Axie Infinity project cryptocurrency did not do well over the winter, the project’s NFT transaction volume increased by 205% in July. Its co-founder Jeff Zerlin noted that the project is “recovering,” noting the positive reception of the NFT’s land stakes advantage.
