Yuga Labs, creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), has acquired 10KTF – a non-fungible token (NFT) game founded by digital artist Michael Winkelmann, also known as Beeple.
10KTF is a browser-based NFT game that allows players to equip heroes with crafting and loading items in order to complete missions. Missions reward players with APE coins, badges, items, and free airdrops.
The game also intends to include several items that the avatar can wear in the future; Pairs of socks and backpacks are popular items from the game collection. So far, fans have been left wondering what Metaverse platform these items will feature. Now that the acquisition has been announced, some fans are starting to speculate that 10KTF items may become wearables within Yuga Labs’ yet-to-be-released metaverse ecosystem.
A thread posted on 10KTF’s official Twitter channel on November 14 showed photos of the 10KTF champion, Wagmi-San, drinking an elixir that was previously shown in another trailer. The last post in the thread is a retweet from another channel, which says “Welcome to the other one, Wagmi-San.”
Once the acquisition is complete, the company said Beeple will be hired as a consultant to Yuga Labs.
This past March, YugaLabs announced that it had acquired two Cryptopunks and Meebits NFT pools from non-fungible pioneers Larval Labs. At the time, Larval Labs co-founders Matt Hall and John Watkinson said that although they did not join Yoga as part of the deal, “we saw in [Yuga Labs] the skill set and experience in the field that we were missing.”
